Smart Campaigns AI Agent
Defined the vision for Vori's first AI product, an agent that would get grocers marketing like a pro without a marketing team
Independent grocers invest heavily in loyalty programs, but most lack the time or marketing expertise to consistently engage customers. On Vori, 54% of stores with loyalty had never sent a campaign, despite coupon redemption rates of 56%—well above the industry average. The opportunity wasn't to build another marketing tool, but to help every grocer market like an expert.
When the company made AI a strategic priority, I represented Design on an executive initiative to identify where AI could create the greatest customer and business impact. Through cross-functional workshops and on-site research with one of our highest-performing customers, we identified campaign creation as one of the highest-leverage opportunities.
As the design lead for Vori's AI initiative, I partnered with Product and Engineering leadership to define where AI should first be introduced across the platform. I led research, facilitated strategy workshops, defined the end-to-end product vision for Smart Campaigns, and created interactive prototypes to align stakeholders before implementation.
Defined the product vision and interaction model for Vori's first AI-powered customer experience.
Aligned executive stakeholders around a shared AI strategy and implementation plan.
Scoped the experience end-to-end and prepared it for engineering implementation.
Designed the visual identity and mascot for Vori's AI assistant, establishing the foundation for future AI experiences across the platform.
Start with customer goals, not AI
Rather than asking where AI could fit into the product, we started by understanding why grocers weren't using existing marketing tools. Research showed the problem wasn't campaign performance. It was the time, expertise, and confidence required to create them. That shifted the focus from adding AI features to removing barriers that prevented stores from marketing at all.
Surface the opportunity, don't make them find it
Grocers already had rich customer and transaction data inside Vori, but little guidance on how to use it. We envisioned AI that would analyze the store's own data and surface ready-to-send campaigns, each tied to a concrete opportunity.
Keep the grocer in control
The goal wasn't fully autonomous marketing. In a store, a bad message costs real trust and real money. Smart Campaigns generates the recommendation, the audience, and the copy. The grocer then reviews, edits, and approves every message before it goes out.
